Massage, Positions & Breathing for Labour

Sarah Stirk Photography

A short informal workshop introducing simple, safe and practical techniques for partners to use during pregnancy and labour.

We will look at the basic principles of upright labour and  why positions can make a real difference. The breath is probably the most important tool for a labouring woman/person. It is always available to you.

Massage is of potential benefit to both partners and even more so for a pregnant woman. During pregnancy some of the common discomforts can be alleviated by appropriate massage and a special bond created between mother, father/partner and baby.

Massage during labour is an effective way of reducing the pains of contractions and a very practical way for her partner to support a labouring woman. Also included are some specific reflexology and shiatsu pressure-point techniques.

Couples are recommended to attend this course between 6 – 8 months of pregnancy and it can also be taught privately.

Time: 2.5 hours

Cost: £95 per couple – group (3 or more couples), £125 per couple for 2 couples.      When taught as a private class for one couple: £160
